Maths

Maths is taught in the class through a range of practical and written work. Our maths theme change across the term and you can find our yearly overview plan for each year group attached below. For guidance, there is also a Parent/ Carer information sheet showing the objectives that the children will be working towards throughout the year.

Number of the week                                                                  

We have a 'number of the week' challenge where the children choose a number and have to investigate it - they can choose to halve it, double it, draw it, write it in words, in roman numerals, multiply it and much more!  Each week the number changes (3 digit and 4 digit numbers are used) and children can pick which one they do.

Times Tables

Times Tables are a key focus in Year 3 and 4 and we wil be doing weekly times tables tests in school. We award the children with certificates when they have learnt certain sets of times tables, Bronze for 2/5/10s, Silver for 3/4/8s, Gold for 6/7/9s and Platinum for 11/12 and mixed tables.  Once we have mastered these we work on division facts.  To help your child at home with these, there are lots of free maths websites to try:
